About The Trip
Gosainkunda trek is one of the most famous treks that take you around the Langtang region to one of the holy lakes, Gosainkunda of Nepal. This trek lets you experience both the cultural diversities and the natural beauties of Nepal in this short period of time. We get to see various panoramic views of beautiful snow-capped mountains and breathtaking scenes. The Himalayas like the Himal Chuli (7,893m), Manaslu Range (8,156m), Ganesh Himal Range (7,406m), Tibetan Peaks, and Langtang Lirung come across our journey.
Overview
Gosaikunda Trek 5 days is the soft adventure trek that takes you to the Holy Glacial Lake at the alpine zone and experiences the Himalayas of Nepal. Holy Gosaikunda Lake is an alpine freshwater that is inside Langtang National Park of Rasuwa district of Nepal. This lake remains frozen from October to June for about six months. As it melts, this lake mix to Trishuli river, one of Nepal's biggest rivers.
According to Hindu mythology, this lake and the surrounding is the home of Lord Shiva and Lady Gauri. Lord Shiva created this lake to cool his stinging throat after drinking poison as per the holy books. This holy lake is famous to Hindu pilgrims from all over the world. Many devotees come to this place during the Janai Purnima and Ganga Darshan Festivals.
Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is not only rich in holy sites but also rich in diverse nature and culture. You will be welcomed with majestic mountains, floras and faunas, and beautiful nature. Langtang National Park is home to many endangered species, including red panda, mountain bear, musk deer, and snow leopard. This park is also rich in diverse flora like rhododendron, orchids, magnolia, and other botanical species. As you reach higher, this trek is blessed with Langtang Lirung (7246m), Gangchhenpo (6388m), Dokpu Peak (5930m), Naya Kangri (5846m), Yala Peak (5500m), Ganesh Himal, Mt Manaslu (8153m) and many other peaks.

Gosainkunda Trek Route
Gosainkunda Trek Itinerary starts from the Kathmandu Valley moving towards the Dhunche from where we start our trek. We pass the rugged trail with the scene of slowing emerging Laurbinayak. From there, we hike towards the Sing Gompa, heading up to the Gosainkunda Lake. We capture the beautiful sight of the Sing Gompa and explore it on our way to the destination. We can experience the typical Tibetan culture in that area. We come across grazing pastures in areas surrounded by beautiful mountains. We can witness glorious Ganesh Himal, HimalChuli, Manaslu range, and Langtang liurung from a close distance. After a short hike up into the high land pastures, we reach our destination; Gosainkunda. We roam around the Gosainkunda for a day. We can find other small lakes accompanying the Gosainkunda. We spend a whole day exploring this beautiful lake, knowing about the history and importance of the Nepalese society and capturing this beautiful moment. Snow-capped mountains all around you with deep blue sky and lake, you will be grateful that you visited this heavenly place.
On the very next day, we leave for Melamchi valley crossing the moraines reaching Ghopte afterward. We take a break and keep our ascend towards the Kutumsang afterward. We encounter a beautiful rhododendron forest on our way with some beautiful villages side by. We keep on moving on a trail through the ridge, reaching the Chisapani. We hike up to the Sundarijal, from where we will head back to Kathmandu with a short drive. This is how our journey goes.
Gosaikunda Trek Difficulty
According to the trip's landscape, trial, and duration, Gosaikunda Treks is rated as a medium-level trek. We will rate the difficulty on the basis of age factor, trekking habits, physical fitness, itinerary, and the season you are trekking in. these reasons will decide whether the trek is easy or hard.
If you are a beginner and have not trekking yet, we recommend you do some basic cardio. This is a medium trek, but you should have good stamina to be safe from altitude sickness. Just try some basic exercises like jogging, hiking, swimming, and other physical activities. During the trek, always hydrate your body with safe and clean-treated water. Dehydration is the biggest enemy during the trek, and you can boost your energy by drinking adequate water.
Gosaikunda Trek Permit
Trekking Information Management System (TIMS)
TIMS card is compulsory for all the tourist except Nepalese during the trek in Nepal. It will cost USD 20 per trekking route per person per entry.
Langtang National Park Entry Fee
This trek crosses the Langtang National Park, and it is compulsory for everyone to pay an entry fee during the trek. So you will need to pay USD 30 per person per entry to trek Langtang Gosaikunda.
Best Season to Trek Gosaikunda
In order to see the best view, we will suggest trekking during the best season as mentioned below. You can able to trek to Gosaikunda for the whole year, but skipping slippery roads and heavy snow will benefit you. You will also get a beautiful and memorable experience during the trek. Whereas, if you like to trek in less crowded and prefer more challenges, you can surely try off-seasons.
Spring Season in Gosaikunda Trek
The spring season falls from March to May and is the best season to trek Gosaikunda. The trials will be full of adventure lovers, and this is the best time to see a magnificent and clear picture of the Himalayas and beautiful nature. During the spring season, the forest is decorated with many colorful rhododendrons and the chirping sound of birds.
Autumn Season in Gosaikunda Trek
The autumn season falls from September to November, which is another best season for Gosaikunda Trek. The autumn season lies just after the monsoon so that you will see the washed environment and fresh air. This season will come to life, as the hills will be refilled with lush and vibrant views. The views will be clear, and able to see the beautiful White Mountains. This is also the best season if you want to witness the Nepalese festival because the Hindu’s biggest festival lies in these months. Such festival includes Dashain, Tihar, and Chhat.
Winter Season in Gosaikunda Trek
The winter season falls from the month of December to February month, and this is the least favorite season for the trek. You will experience the cold weather and difficulty in trekking. As the Gosaikunda is somehow at a lower altitude, you can trek with proper equipment and clothes.
Summer Season in Gosaikunda Trek
The summer season falls from the month of June to August, and this is the hottest season of the year. You will also experience frequent rainfall that leads to slippery and uncomfortable trials. Trekking in this season will lead to danger, as there may be landslides during the monsoon rain in the hilly region.
