Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a short and fairly easy trek in the Annapurna region. This is also named Annapurna Sunrise Trek and is one of the trendy and easy treks. Bracing through the decorative forest with rhododendron, this trek will endow you with the Himalayan panorama and bestow you the opportunities to get close with local people. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Route
We embarked on the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking Trial to Nayapul, which we reach after an hour-long bus drive from Pokhara. The first day of the trek takes us to Tikhedhunga. After a 6-8 hour trek during which you’ll pass through bamboo forests and waterfalls alike, you’ll reach Ghorepani, a Gurung village. We climb early the next morning to Poon Hill. Poon Hill is famous for having some of the most spectacular sunrise views over the snow-clad Himalayan peaks of the Annapurna region. After the morning at Poon Hill, you can trek to the hot spring town of Tatopani. If you go by this route, you’ll be trekking through Ghasa, Marpha, and Kagbeni for the next few days to arrive at the sacred temple of Muktinath. After trekking for one more day through the arid landscape to Jomsom, we catch a flight back to Pokhara and end our trip.
Another popular route to take on this trek is to drive to Phedi and walk to Pothana. Spending the next few days trekking through Ghandruk and Banthani to arrive at our main objective at Ghorepani. Once we’ve had our fill of the magnificent view from Poon Hill, we head towards Chandrakot and then the Australian Camp. We reach Sarangkot for another heavenly view of the sunset on the final day before we end our trek.
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Difficulty
The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is easy to moderate. As such, both beginner and experienced trekkers are encouraged to enjoy the natural and cultural beauty of this route. However, our team of High Vision Adventures suggests you do lite exercises like walking or jogging before the days of trekking. You can walk 3 to 4 hours daily which will be a good exercise for you. During the trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill, you do not need any technical or special gear. But you have to be prepared for rainfall, so we suggest you take waterproof clothes or raincoats with you.
